Broughton and Bretton Bowling Club was formed in 1977 with a view to providing a bowling green for the community and to improve the quality of life and increase recreational participation in the village.

Since 1977 the club has gone from strength to strength, entering many teams into local leagues, allowing our members to experience competitive bowling at different levels.

The upkeep of the green and its surroundings are tended to by the members themselves. On a Sunday morning, you can find many people doing odd jobs and cutting the green.

This season (2016), we will be entering 7 teams into 4 different leagues -

Chester League "A" team will be playing in the A division. In recent years, the "A" team have won 14 league titles, including 6 on the run (2009 - 2014). The now defunct "B" team won the B division in 2007.

Flintshire League - the A team is playing in the First Division. The newly formed B team is starting life in the Sixth Division. This team can give the opportunity to any budding new bowlers who want to experience league bowls.

Premier Toyota Welsh Counties League - in October 2013, Broughton won a play-off against St Asaph which allowed us to enter the league for 2014. In our inaugural season, we finished a respectable 6th place out of 12, only 5 points off 3rd place. Last year, we finished 5th after leading the league for a number of games earlier in the season. This league includes the top 12 teams from around the North Wales area, from Beaumaris (Anglesey) in the west to ourselves in the east.

Deeside Veterans League - we currently have 3 teams in this league. The "A" team play in the A division. They have won 11 league titles, including an incredible run of 10 titles on the trot (2000 - 2010). The "B" team play in the B division and the "C" team play in Division E.

Since the club's inception 38 years ago, we have won 29 League titles, 20 League and County cups across the different leagues. Our members have also won 22 League Merits and 5 Champion of Champions between them.

A number of our players have represented the Welsh County team in the Junior, Ladies, Senior and Veteran age groups.

Our bowling green has been selected many times to host Welsh County games at many levels.
